No Pax to (IKEA) PAX in our time

  • The classic IKEA PAX assembly.

  • Regardless of if it's single or double it always seems to take 1.5 hrs per wardrobe.

  • And another

Replacement Outside Light

  • Old lights tired, dull and the cover keeps blowing off in the wind.

  • New lights

  • And next door at the same time.

Staircase Renovation

  • The stairs up to the loft conversion were never finished by the original builder.

  • New parts fitted to give a nice match to the existing banister.

  • Plasterboard finish.

  • Over to the plasterer and decorator.

Relocating Flatpack Furniture

  • Old wardrobe, new location?

  • No instructions, no photos, just a well meaning note?

  • No problem

Concrete Pad for Bin Store

  • The bins had to go in the front garden, but leaving them on the grass/soil isn't a good idea.

  • Prepared and laid a concrete pad for bins and for a bicycle store.

  • 0.7m3 of concrete poured (Barrowmix) which is about 2 tons.

  • The grass might grow back one day.

Wall Repair

  • The wall had collapsed onto the pavement due to years of rain (and a broken drain).

  • The blocks didn't have a repeat pattern, but they came out so they should go back.

  • Google maps' historic photos to the rescue.

  • And 5 days of doing a concrete block jigsaw as the whole wall just lifted apart.

Wardrobe Repair

  • The weight of the mirrored doors had slowly failed the hinges. Strangely it was the left hand door on both wardrobes (the pics taken after the rhs was repaired).

  • The standard IKEA mounting screws weren't suitable to refit in the same holes with any kind of filler.

  • Fitted new hinge plates that sat slightly further into the wardrobe and used the wide diameter furniture screws.

Old toilet, new toilet

  • Old toilet. Stylish and chic when new, but very difficult to service when the flush fails

  • New toilet. Simple, just as chic and easily serviceable. Like it has always been there.

Old tap, new tap

  • Old tap. Dribbles, flow cartridge fused into the body.

  • New tap. Turns out they got themselves exactly the same tap, but now it works.

House Painting

  • Renovation of front of house.

  • Both houses painted in the same job.

  • Scaffolding required, way too high and awkward for ladders.

  • Just move the gate post!

  • Metro tiles fitted

  • Wall panels, top cap (made to measure) and skirting fitted and painted in this high traffic area.

Washing Line Fitting

  • Yes, a washing line, but a retractable double at that.

  • The patio doors were originally a window.

  • The doors replaced the window after the rendered cladding was fitted.

  • The door fitters made the best of the patch using filler.

  • Plastic facia boards fitted on the reveals to give a tidy, clean new look.

Guitar Refinish and Setup

  • Musicman Stingray5 (belong to a professional musician).

  • Neck relief and string hight set to suit his playing style.

  • The customer was happy with the look of the naked body.

  • Nitrocellulose gloss finish applied.
